Find the point on the curve at T=3, draw the tangent, ie a straight line at that point with the same gradient (slope); and to measure it, take any length of this line, and make it the diagonal of a right angled triangle. The gradiant is the height of this triangle divided by its width, or "rise over run". Does this help, or is drawing the tangent the problem?
