1. ## Integers GMAT

If n-9p, where p is a prime number greater than 3, how many different positive divisors does n have?

This is a question from the subject: integers. I have no idea how to solve this problem.

I keep guessing, but whats the trick to this question?

can you give me the actual steps to finding the answer?

question doesn't make sense as written. Do you mean 9p divides n?

3. ## Re: Integers GMAT

I'm sincerely apologize. The question should read as follows:

if n=9p, where p is a prime number greater than 3, how many different positive divisors does n have?

9 has 3 divisors, 1, 3, 9

p is prime and thus has divisors 1 and p, and p doesn't divide 9 since p>3

n=9p will thus have 4 divisors 1,3,9, and p
