Math Help - error analysis

    error analysis

    p = ab
    where a = 271.00 +- 0.005m
    and b = 51.0 +- 0.05m find the maximum error.

    is it right to calculate this by (.005/271 + .05/51) * (271*51)
    could some one please check if the answer is 13.805m

    It depends on what you mean by maximum error.

    271.005 * 51.05 = 13834.8

    and this is the largest value the product can take.

    The smallest value it can take is:

    270.995 * 50.95 = 13807.2

    So these two represent errors of +/-13.8
