Thread: Factor the trinomials

The task: Factor the trinomials and write each as the product of its factors.

1.
x^2 -10x -24

My answer:
(x+2)(x-12)

2.
x^2 -9x +18

My answer:
(x-3)(x-6)

3.
x^2 +14x +45

My answer:
(x+5)(x+9)

4.
x^2 +6x -40

My answer:
(x-4)(x+10)

Do I have the right answers? What is meant by "write each as the product of its factors"???

If a value a has the factors b and c then the product of the factors is just bc. You have written the quadratics as the product of their factors.

1.
x^2 -10x -24

My answer:
Factor the trinomials = (x+2)(x-12)
Product of its factors = value of a=-24 has the factors b=+2 and c=-12 then the product of the factors is +2-12 = -10???

so, to write my answer correct for this task I should write:
Factor the trinomial: (x+2)(x-12)
Write trinomial as the product of its factors: product x^2 -10x -24 = factors (x+2)(x-12)

Is that right?
