    1. Two samples of sodium chloride were decomposed into their constituent elements. One sample produced 4.65 g of sodium and 7.16 g of chlorine, and the other sample produced 7.45 g sodium and 11.5 g of chlorine. Are these results consistent with the law of constant composition? Show your work.
    Mass Sodium = 4.65g = 0.65
    Mass Chloride 7.16g
    Mass Sodium = 7.45g =0.65
    Mass Chloride 11.5g
    Since the ratios are the same for the two samples, these results are consistent with the law of constant composition.

    I believe you are right.

    One remark about presentation: since the forum does not preserve horizontal alignment in plain text, write fraction in one line (e.g., x / y) instead of several lines. Use parentheses if necessary. If you need to align things horizontally, use the [code]...[/code] tags (they use a fixed-width font and don't delete spaces).
