    physics

    a 1500 kg. moving on a flat horizontal road negotiates a curve if radius of the curve is 35 meter and the static friction between the tires and dry pavement is a 0.50,find maximum velocity of car to make tha turn successfully?

    Maximum lateral force available before car starts to skid is 1500*g*0.5 N, so
    maximum lateral accelleration befor onset of skid is 0.5 g ~= 5 m/s^2.

    Lateral acceleration in a turn is v^2/r m/s^2, so we have:

    v^2/35 = 5,

    or

    v^2 = 175,

    or:

    v=13.2 m/s
