    Significant Figures

    I had this problem come up while studying for my Math Praxis II exam.

    What can the difference between the following numbers that are rounded to 2 significant digits:

    2.87 million
    2.22 million

    Hint: The first number belong to the interval [2.865\cdot10^6,2.875\cdot10^6) and the second number belongs to the interval [2.215\cdot10^6,2.225\cdot10^6).
