    Nutrition algebra question

Carol is 46 years old and is a lifelong dieter. She currently weighs 95 kg and is 162 cm tall. She started dieting 4 months ago and initially lost 10 kg. Her weight has plateaued over the past 2 month, however, and she has not lost any more weight.

    1) Carol would like to lose 40 pounds (18kg) before summer (i.e. the next 12 weeks).

    a) How many calories less than her EER would Carol have to restrict to achieve this goal? Is this a reasonable weight loss goal?

    Re: Help!!! nutrition question

More accurately: "To lose one pound per week, you need to reduce your intake by 500 calories per day."

So how much less to lose 40 pounds in 12 weeks?
