Hey, just in need for some quick help: Peta is on her way to her friend Joey's house. She walked a certain distance, w (km) and then ran five times as far as she walked. She was finally picked up by Joey's Mum and driven the remaining 10 km to his house!
a) Write an expression, in terms of w, for the total distance that peta travelled. Simplify your answer.

The total distance to joey's house is 22km i think,

b) write an equation relating w to the total distance travelled.
c) solve your equation to determine how far peta walked.
d) How far dod Peta Run

Okay is there a way, or "Steps" that will enable me to always be able to solve questions like this? Thanks

she walked w km
then she ran 5 times as far as she walked, which is 5w km
then she got picked up, and was driven 10 km

the sum of these is the total distance travelled

thus, total distance = w + 5w + 10 = 6w + 10

6w + 10 = 22

c) solve your equation to determine how far peta walked.

multiply the answer to the last question by 5
