Hello,
I have some douibt in induction, fistly, I looked everywhere in the book for the definition for "induction"but couldn't find it, I couldn't find a simple explanaition in the internet as well, so a simple yet effective explanation would not very much appreciated.
Now,for the important bit, the attached question asks about how to charge a metal, I would answer this by saying "place the +ly charge rod next to the metal plate, the electrons in the plate would be attracted to the positive charge hence the upper surface of the rod would have an overall negaive charge" however, the mark scheme says the following:
-Bring rod close to but not touching plate
-Touch metal plate with earth lead
-Remove lead and then rod
Okay, so why is an earthnig wire needed if we want the metal to be charged?!
This makes zero sense to me, if anyone can make this simpler to me, his efforts would be very much appreciated :-)
Thanks in advance
