Acceleration graph
Okay, so the questions is about the graph attached...
Its basically a skier going down a hill.

It says:
Describe what is happening to the acceleration as the skier is decending...
Easy, as seen by the graph, it is decreasing

But here is the trickly question...

Describe what is happening during the descent to the speed of the skier.

My attempt, acceleration decreasing is like speed is decreasing at a slower rate each second, so it would decrease

WRONG!!!! the mark scheme says it would increase.... why?

thank you

ow and one more thing, to draw this smooth curve graph it took me a very long time to get exactly past every point as accurately as possible, in the exam I don't have this much time, so it there any tips for drawing a good curve from first attemps?

thanks

acceleration is decreasing but POSITIVE. positive acceleration means increase in 'speed'. since the acceleration is decreasing the rate of increase of speed is decreasing but still speed is increasing.

haha! no probs. i remember doing such problems while i was preparing for various pre-university exams. they were just fun. sometimes i wish i could go back.
