Thread: Mathematics equation debate

I'm having a debate with my brother about an equation and want to clarify who is correct.

The equation is as follows:

UT = Qn + An

UT = All Questions unknown or known + All Answers unknown or known
Qn = All Questions unknown or known
An = All Answers unknown or known



Can someone confirm if this is the equivalent of saying:

Zn = Xn + Yn

or

Z = X + Y

Also is this a legitimate equation. Just to clarify the n in both equations equals all unknown and known, the n does not equal to the power of something it just represents an unknown amount.
