How do you do this word problem
Nineteen percent of the nitric acid was used in the experiment. If 1134 liters remained how much nitric acid had been available in the beginning? How much had been used?

Let $x$ denote the amount of nitric acid available at the
begining. The $19\%$ used is $0.19x$ litres.

So what is left is:

$x-0.19x=1134$,

so:

$0.81x=1134$

Solving this gives:

$x=1400$ litres.
