problem:
At the top, Mount everest has an altitude of 8848m.
Mountain climbers arrive at a base camp on the mountain.
The base camp is at an altitude of 4700m where the temperature is 4 degress celsius.

Meterologists have found the folllowing relationship between altitude and temperature:

*the temperature drops 2 degrees celsius for every 300m increse in altitude.
What is the temperature at the top of mount everest?

so far my guess is .. you subtract 8848-4700=4148.. and then divide that my 300m .. and with that you multiply it by 2 .. ?

So far so good: that gives you the drop in temperature. You then need to subtract what you get (about 27.653) from 4 to get the final answer.
