    maths homework

    a container tht can hold 12 litres is 3/4 full.how much will it contain after 4 litres have been poured out of it?

    Hello,

    the container holds \frac{3}{4} of 12 litres. This of is translated by "multiply!" with your sort of problems.

    Therefore the container holds:
    \frac{3}{4} \cdot 12 = 9 \text{ litres} . Now there are poured off 4 litres. That means the final content is:
    9\text{ litres} - 4\text{ litres} = 5\text{ litres}
