Need some help on this one, need to teach it tomorrow and having some serious trouble. I do know that Jake needs to be able to call 4 people. It is about talking on the phone and a rumor. And I need to explain how this works so if you could help me that would be great.
Here it is:
Although we have no idea who called whom, we do know that no one called themselves and no one spoke on the phone with his or her own spouse, given these faces, a resident of gray lane may have had a phone convo with as many as eight other neighbors. IT's also possible that a resident did not discuss the rumor on the phone with anyone that night.
Everyone got together for coffee the next morning, and Hannah asked the other nine people how many residents of Gray Lane they had spoken to on the phone the night before to discuss the rumor. Much to Hannah's amazement, each person gave a different answer. That is, one neihbor didn't talk to anyone, someone had one conversation, someone had two, and someone else had 3 and so forth down to the last person who had eight conversations.
Given this information, determine how many phone convos Jake had with other niehbors Saturday night. Explain in detail. Thanks!
I thought she said that Jake would of had 4 but I keep getting much different answers.
