When a parachut opens, the air exerts a large drag force on it. This upward force is initially greater than the weight of the sky diver and, thus, slows him down.
Suppose the weight of the sky diver is 915N and the drag force has a magnitude of 1027N. The mass of the sky diver is 93.4kg. What are the magnitude and direction of his acceleration.
So a = -1.2 m/s.s. and direction is down, as it's a negative sign???
Do I have it correct??
I showed the 1027 N force pointing up and 915N pointing down against the weight of the sky diver?
Thanks Jo![]()
