Thread: How do carrier waves work

Is it that a single wave is modulated to have another wave inside it. I'm confused because some pictures show the data as being encapuslulated in another 2 waves, where as others show another wave pattern in a main wave.

To make my question much more clear look at these pictures:

this one doesn't have a wave in between 2 others.

The diagram you've shown is an example of Frequency Modulation.

You may be confusing this with Amplitude Modulation.
