Thread: urgent help please

my step daughter is doing an enlarging areas homework that needs to be in tomorrow. the question we are stuck on is what happens to the area of a rectangle when you enlarge it by a fractional scale factor. any help would be greatly appreciated, thanx.

If the scale factor is less than 1 the area will shrink

i thought that was the case but apparently her teacher told her that it only shrinks with a negative scale factor, thankyou.
