    Ratio

John has the same number of chocolate and of almond cookies. He puts them in two jars so that the ratios of the number of chocolate cookies to almond cookies in jar I is 2:5 and in jar II is 9:5. If there are 84 cookies in jar I, how many are there in jar II ?

    hi

in jar 1 , ratio of chocolate to almond is 2:5 , 7y=84 , y=12 so number of chocolates is 24 and almond , 60

    in jar 2 , ratio of C:A=9:5 , 14p=q (let q be the total in jar 2)

so number of chocolate is 9q/14 , and almond , 5q/14

Given that number of chocolates=number of almond

    solve 24+9q/14=60+5q/14
