what does this symbol mean
un=5*(0.4)^(n-1)

can someone please how is this written manually, i mean the ^ symbol and the *, are these just pc terms, or do they remain the same when written manually, thanks

Just PC terms for 'multiplication' and 'to the power of'

You can use LaTeX tags to show symbols.
$$u_n=5\cdot (0.4)^{n-1}$$ gives $u_n=5\cdot (0.4)^{n-1}$.
