
Pattern?
I am given a triangle of numbers; the numbers that are on the bottom of every row are random...then above those numbers, each number of each block is found using a simple rule from the two numbers that are directly below it. I have to find the rule and place the correct # on the top block.
So:

The rule doesn't seem apparent to me, but what I want to know more so than anything is if I can solve it using diophantine equations.
That is, 23x + 47y = 168; 47y + 18z = 224; 18z + 76a = 336 and so forth.
That would be so cool.
Anyone know?

Meh, apparently the pattern is easy to find...I can't even find it, yet alone trying to go into higher math with it

Each number is the product of the digits of the two numbers below it.
. . From 23 and 47, we get: . 2·3·4·7 = 168
. . From 168 and 224, we get: .1·6·8·2·2·4 = 768
. . . . . and so on.
