    Two Forces Acting at a Point

    Two forces, \vec F_1 and , \vec F_2 act at a point, as shown in the picture. \vec F_1 has a magnitude of 8.00 N and is directed at an angle of \alpha = 60.0 degree's above the negative x axis in the second quadrant. \vec F_2 has a magnitude of 6.60 N and is directed at an angle of \beta = 52.9 degrees below the negative x axis in the third quadrant.

    1. What is the x component F_x of the resultant force?

    F_x = _______________ Newtons

    2. What is the y component F_y of the resultant force?

    F_y = _______________ Newtons

    3. What is the magnitude Fof the resultant force?

    F = _______________ Newtons

    4. What is the angle \gamma that the resultant force forms with the negative x axis? In this problem, assume that positive angles are measured clockwise from the negative x axis.

    Get components

    Use trig to get the x component of each force. Then add them up. That get's you the x component of the resultant. Do the same for the y component. At the end, you have the x and y components of the resultant
