    Two Forces Acting at a Point

    Two forces,$\displaystyle \vec F_1$ and ,$\displaystyle \vec F_2$ act at a point, as shown in the picture.$\displaystyle \vec F_1$ has a magnitude of 8.00 $\displaystyle N$ and is directed at an angle of $\displaystyle \alpha$ = 60.0 degree's above the negative x axis in the second quadrant. $\displaystyle \vec F_2$ has a magnitude of 6.60$\displaystyle N$ and is directed at an angle of $\displaystyle \beta$ = 52.9 degrees below the negative x axis in the third quadrant.

    1. What is the x component $\displaystyle F_x$ of the resultant force?

    $\displaystyle F_x$ = _______________ $\displaystyle Newtons$

    2. What is the y component $\displaystyle F_y$ of the resultant force?

    $\displaystyle F_y$ = _______________ $\displaystyle Newtons$

    3. What is the magnitude$\displaystyle F$of the resultant force?

    4. What is the angle $\displaystyle \gamma$ that the resultant force forms with the negative x axis? In this problem, assume that positive angles are measured clockwise from the negative $\displaystyle x$ axis.

    Get components

    Use trig to get the x component of each force. Then add them up. That get's you the x component of the resultant. Do the same for the y component. At the end, you have the x and y components of the resultant
