    Hello,

    multiply first, add later:

    5-4\sqrt{3 \cdot 7-5}
    5-4\sqrt{16}
    5-4 \cdot 4
    5-4 \cdot 4=-11

    I hate questions like these...brackets should ALWAYS be used!

    5-4\sqrt(3*7-5)=5-(4*\sqrt(16))

    You see, its actually -4 MULTIPLIED by the squareroot not (5-4) multiplied by the square root.

    In the end you get...

    5-(4*4)=5-16=-11

    Hope that helps!
