Band or Sports?
In a school of 320 students, 85 students are in the band, 200 students are on sports teams, and 60 students participate in both activities. How many students are involved in either band or sports?

Exactly like the other problem.

85-60 take band only
200-60 take sport only
60 take both

So (85-60)+(200-60)+60=215 take are involved in one or other of sport and/or band.

Yes, but the Venn diagram is only being used to help keep track of the cases.
