Leon drove 270 miles to the lodge in the same time as pat drove 330 miles to the lodge. If pat drove 10 miles per hour faster then Leon, then how fast did each of them drive?

Let Leon's speed = L
Let Pat's speed = P

P = L + 10

Leon's speed time is 270/L and Pat's speed time is 330/P. We are given that these two are equal

270/L = 330/(P)

270/L = 330/(L + 10)

(L + 10)/L = 330/270

1 + 10/L = 11/9

10/L = 2/9

10 = 2/9*L

L = 45 mph

And thus, recall P = L + 10

P = 55 mph
