    Plot3D in Mathematica 6

    Hello there!

    I've just started using Mathematica for my learning needs so I don't know much about it.

    I wanted to plot this function:



    It is obvious that the surface will behave asymptotically in the points where:



    Or an hyperbole as shown below:




    My question is, its there a way to remove those artifacts from the surface representation?

    Specify an exclusion:

    Plot3D[(x*y - 1)/(1 + x*y), {x, -5, 5},
    {y, -5, 5}, PlotPoints -> 100,
    ClippingStyle -> None, Exclusions ->
    x*y == -1, PlotRange ->
    {{-5, 5}, {-5, 5}, {-25, 25}}]

    I see you like making nice plots Jfierro. That's the key to successfully solving many problems I believe: seek the aesthetics; many things then follow .
