simple plot?

hi guys, I am relatively new to Maple and am currently attempting to plot a 'dividing streamline' using the plot command.

My fuction is ((x+.5)^2 + y^2) + ((x-.5)^2 + y^2) =
Pi/4 [((x+.5)^2 + y^2)((x+.5)^2 + y^2)].

When I attempt to plot this in Maple I use the following command:

plot(........, X);

but I receive:

Warning, unable to evaluate the function to numeric values in the region; see the plotting command's help page to ensure the calling sequence is correct

Does anybody know where I am going wrong, or indeed, how to plot this function? Any help would be hugely appreciated.

Thanks,
Ben

Sorry, I dont really know what happened in my previous post. My input into Maple was:

plot(.....,x);

You cannot use the [ img ] tags when you want to upload from your computer. Upload the image to an external site if you want to use [ img ] tags.

Alternatively, you can upload pictures to MHF from your computer by clicking on "Manage Attachments". (It's below the text area, in "Additional Options" when you are posting a reply.)

hi, cheers for the advice. However, I wasn't intentionally trying to upload an image. I was just trying to copy and paste. My command was only one line, which was

plot( my function, x);

Should this be sufficient?
