# Math Help - generating polynomials from the given coordinates and slope

1. ## generating polynomials from the given coordinates and slope

hi fellas, i was wondering if there is a software to generate a polynomial function from given coordinates and the slope. actually i have a graph and i identified the co ordinates but i need to generate the function now to perform my job. please suggest me a good program

You are looking for some kind of "fit" program? As in, for example, a regression curve?

yes, exactly, a least curve fitting would do

4. ## Re: generating polynomials from the given coordinates and slope

I don't know how to work the slope data in it but, believe it or not, Excel has a pretty good curve fitting selection and it's easy to plug in the data. Otherwise the usual Mathematica, Mathlab, etc. Wolfram|Alpha can likely do it (and it's free!) but I don't know the command to do it.

thanks a lot, that helped
