Please help with a piece of MatLab finite differences coursework :)

Hello everyone. New to this so apologies for any mistakes.

I have attached a piece of coursework I have for Uni and wondered if anyone had any ideas of where to even start. Any help would be massively appreciated.

Cheers.

Oli.

Start with the stability criterion for whatever numerical method you are going to use.

For the FTCS scheme the stability criterion is that:

$\displaystyle \frac{2D\Delta t}{(\Delta x)^2} \le 1$

which will allow you to calculate $\displaystyle \Delta t_{max}$

.
