Thread: Solve using Bernoulli's form for maple

Hi all,

I need to draw a directional field, by use of Maple 12 for the Following Equation;

dy/dx + y^2 - y/x = 0

I believe this needs to be solved by use of Bernoulli's as stated which if i am correct gives:

y'(x) = y(x)^2-(y(x))/x = 0

but i dont know how to input this for use on maple under the fieldplot app
any help on the solution to the equation or guidance for maple would be gratefully recieived.

I use Maple 13 so am not sure if there is a significant difference. Try right clicking and then select solve DE interactively.

If you use maple to plot directional fields, would you please check this attched image and confirm or correct.

Original Equation is:

dy/dx + y^2 - y/x = 0

which i thought i needed to solve, I only need the conditions thought which i believe to be as follows:

[y^2, -y/x]

Maple is struggling with it too lol, not sure if its maple or me to be honest as i am new to it, Not sure i need to solve it though as i just need conditions in order to plot a directional field, i have reposted the question accordingly.

Enter this in to maple:
y'+y^2-y/x

Then right click the function.

Find solve de interactively
