# Thread: How do I make Maxima show me the integral without evaluating it?

1. ## How do I make Maxima show me the integral without evaluating it?

Let's say I want to evaluate an integral for example integral of 1/x dx. And let's say that I want to make sure I typed it right. So, what I want is to be able to make the output be the non-evaluated integral and then lets say the output is %o1 then to get the answer I would just do integrate(%o1, x); for example.

Basically, my question is how do I make it show a non-evaluated integral that I inputted? (If what I'm trying to achieve is not obvious, it's basically to see the integral in "human form" as opposed to computer-typed stuff)

Any input would be greatly appreciated!

As in:

The ' gives the noun form of the input while the ev( %o7, nouns) evaluates the noun forms in %o7.
