# Math Help - How do I tell Maxima to give me an answer in decimals?

1. ## How do I tell Maxima to give me an answer in decimals?

How do I tell Maxima to give me an answer in decimals instead of a long algebraic (and numerical) answer? I want the default to remain the algebraic number (if that's what you call it) but I'd like to be able to see the decimal form for quick comparisons when needed.

Any input would be greatly appreciated!

3. Thanks. Just to clarify, yesterday, I found numer:true$, that would be to change the default value for everything and what you just told me is just temporary for one of the outputs (or inputs), right? 4.
