Thread: Maxima 5.20.1 calculus software

Hi,

Ik have a problem with computing bessel functions in maxima.
First I load(othopoly)in maxima
Then in the commandline Legendre_p(3,x); ths works.

If I try Bessel_J(3,x)the result is jus the same.

Bessel_j(0,0) works ans =1

Can someone explain this??

1. Please make sure you use the correct case (that is legendre_p and bessel_j not Legendre_p and Bessel_j)

2. bessel_j(3,x) is not a polynomial so exactly what do you expect it to evaluate to?
