Internet Explorer

This isn't a math question, but it is related to this website. Can anyone help me figure out why Internet Explorer might be having a hard time loading anything on this site when I try to get on from my home computer.

I've had to go to FireFox just to access this site anymore from home because IE litterally takes FOREVER to load. But this problem only occurs on this site.

Computer Specs:
Gateway GT5228 PC
AMD Duel Processor 4200: 2.2 GHz each
NVIDIA GeForce 7600 GS
DSL Connection
IE v.6

By the way, FireFox loads quicker than IE but is also kind of slow. It can be pretty frustrating trying to get on this site from my home PC.

Do I need to download something? Should I upgrade to IE v.7 (which I'm a little hesitant about doing - it's still new and glitchy)? Does my computer just bad? :mad: !

I have an active and updated version of McAfee that ran automatically earlier today.

Use something 100 times more powerful than McAfee.

Many computer anti-virus programs, example: McAfee, Norton, AVG. Do not detect much malware. There are some things that they do not even catch.

A common mistake I realized people make is that they assume that if they have an anti-virus program they are 100% safe. They are such idiots. Those programs are to caution you. But if they think they can download anything and run anything because they are safe that is how they end up getting infected.

Thank you for not directly saying "You are such an idiot" to me ;). But since you brought up that topic, do you have a suggestion for an anti-maleware program that I can get a hold of (without dipping too far into my wallet)?

I would use Panda (my Homepage). But you have to pay. You can use it for free and just get the report. That is what I do, I manually remove my malware.

But you can use this BitDefender.
(Be warned it takes hours and hours to make the scan).

Yeah, malware can slow down your computer, but I think we should start from the basics, how fast is your internet connection at home?

I use this site at school, and at school, they have wireless and wired internet access. Don't even think about pulling this site up on the wireless computers, it takes forever, but the wired network is ok, pretty fast actually. So the internet connection has a lot to do with website loading speed. And for wireless it can be slow.

Maybe this isn't a big consideration, because, as you said, other sites load just fine. But think about it.

Also, in regards to good malware scanners, there are tons that are free out there. A lot of them can scan your computer online, and clean it for you. Try to google "online virus scanners," "yahoo virus scanners" to see some.

Some good ones off the top of my head, trendmicro at housecall.trendmicro.com and Bitdefender as TPH said, but there are others
