    Innies and Outies

Maybe this one is a little more challenging!

    Innies and outies

"Each answer is a word within a word.
In each case, the inner word does not have the first or last letters of the outer word.
For example: If the clue is "Hearing organ/facial hair",
the answer would be "Beard" (B-EAR-D)."

    1. Bad/Wicked people.

    2. Wrath/Weary.

    3. Confuse/propelled.

    4. Spanish cheers/Annoy.

    5. Pain/Distinctive mark of individuality.

    6. Octopus defense/Smallish.

    7. Crumb/Direction.

    8. Avail/Greek goddesses.

    9. Extended family member/Insults.

    10. Gallows necessity/Cause to move.

Does the 'inner word' have to be contained in the clue on the LHS or is it a coincidence that ear appears in hearing organ.

    Hearing Organ / Facial Hair

The first clue is the 'innie' word, and the second clue is the 'outie' word.

    So, the answer is B-EAR-D

EAR is the 'innie' word and BEARD is the 'outie' word.
