    Hello, masters!

    Excellent work . . . as always!

    You left out Budapest, Hungary.
I assume it was an oversight.

Ha! . . . My quiz needs to be brought up to date.
I have demonstrated how long I've had these quizzes.
. . The capital of Nigeria used to be Lagos.
. . And I totally forgot that Burma no longer exists.

I found an old old globe at a yard sale and had to buy it.
It has names like: French Indo-China, Siam, Persia, Palestine,
and The Belgian Congo . . . names I had learned in grade school.

    Sheesh!
I'm now at the age when I can say, "When I was your age . . ."

It seems like only yesterday that Ike was our President
and we had hoped that his heart attack wasn't fatal
because (*shudder*) Nixon would be the President.

    Okay, so it wasn't yesterday.
The memory is the second thing to go . . .

    Soroban,

I hate to give in on this one, but.....

I've tried homonyms; that didn't seem to work.

I've tried homophones; that didn't work, either.

I tried to change the first letter to create a rhyming word, but couldn't keep up with the alphabetical order and some words were just impossible.

    sack - back
    pond - bond
    gnu - ????
    pawn - dawn
    clay - flay
    bean - lean
    maid - paid

So, in essence, I am lost. I need another hint. No one else has attempted these.

Also, about the capitals of the countries...I did inadvertantly leave off Budapest, Hungary. I knew that one, too. I used to be a good in geography as well. Now, I have trouble with eastern Europe, Africa, and all the 'stans' countries.

By the way, I still call it Burma. The 'Myanmar Road' just doesn't have that same ring to it, you know.

    Hello, masters!

    You're on the right track . . . rhymes.

Now find rhyming words that have a common category.

    Hello, masters!

Good job . . . You missed one.
    . .
    Spoiler:
    sienna rhymes with antenna.
But you knew that obscure one ("lake".)

Yes, I'm sure these were designed with torment/torture in mind.
I found them about twenty years ago.
I'm very nearly recovered now, thank you.
