How many miles per hour would you need to be going to go 2 miles in 13 minutes, and how would you calculate that?

2 miles in 13 minutes
speed = distance / time = 2/13 miles per minute
= 2/(13 x 60 ) miles per hour

Use ratios and cross multiply.

Or, note that since there are 60 minutes in an hour, 13 minutes is 13/60 of an hour. Going 2 miles in 13/60 hour, you are going 2/(13/60)= 2(60/13)= 120/13 miles per hour.

This is wrong. Perhaps you meant to write (2/13)x60.

Set up a ratio of "miles : minutes"

2 : 13
2/13 : 1
60 x 2/13 : 60
120/13 : 60
9.23 : 60


It's about 9.23 mph.

firstly you will need to find the hours that were used.
using the ratio minutes : hours

60mins = 1hr
13mins = 13/60
= 0.2166666666666667
then you have to find the speed which is the miles per hour

speed = distance/time
= 2/ 0.2166666666666667
= 9.230769230769229miles per hour
you can round it up to 3sf making it;

speed = 9.23mph
