Please help, this is from android app "Got Math" and my phone shut down before I could get a solution.
Basically all you have to do is get to the number 427 using only the following numbers : (100,50,10,75,75,4 ) You can add/subtract/multiply/divide.
For example, if I needed you to get to the number 164, you could do : 10 + 4= 14 ; 75+75= 150; 150+14=164 !!! voila. Or a more complex problem would be get to the number 233 . To do this you would have to do ; 100/50=2 ;10-2=8; 75x4=300; 300-75=225; 225+8=233 ..... my problem is more along the lines of the latter, The answer is just eluding me.
Once you use a number you cannot use it again, it creates a new number. The game is just combining numbers to get to your target.
Please help !!
I know it may seem like there is no solution, but I assure you there is. It was part of the app. I too had arrived @ 428 and 426 and 429 and 431 lol. I am all around this but I cannot beat it !!!
*Edit* Also you can only do 1 operation at a time. Meaning that you cannot do (100 +10 )/75 since 110 is not wholly divisble by 75.
here is another example problem that hopefully helps you guys understand how this works:
737?
100-4-25-1-7-50
Using those six numbers you must arrive @ the number 737, the following steps will take us there.
4+1=5
50/25=2
5+100=105
105x7=735
735+2=737
So you have to go one process at a time. I am thinking with my original problem we do 100/50=2 and then we must arrive @ 425 somehow with remaining numbers and add the 2.
It is most def an Outside-of-the-box type of thing. Sometimes the problems are simple, sometimes they are complex. This one just eluded me and my phone shut down so I could not get a solution.
Remember, once you combine two numbers, the original numbers can no longer be used, only the new number created.
