# Math Help - 24 Game Marathon

1. ## 24 Game Marathon

Hi everyone. This is a 24 game marathon.

1)You may only add, subtract, multiply, and divide. NOTHING else, INcluding exponents, just like the original 24 game.

2)When you answer a problem, you must remember to make a new one up. It doesn't take long to make one up, but make sure it works. If the person doesn't make one up, then someone else can make a
new pr
oblem

3)You may only make problems with one or two didit numbers. Otherwise, it gets too confusing

4)Try not to repeat problems; people will get bored with them.

Here's the first one:

5, 5, 5, 1

2. ## Re: 24 Game Marathon

Are we allowed to use only three numbers? For example, $5 \times 5 - 1 = 24$.

Edit: $5 \times (5 - \frac{1}{5}) = 24$

6 8 8 9

3. ## Re: 24 Game Marathon

No. You must use all the numbers given

4. ## Re: 24 Game Marathon

$6 \times \left( \frac{8}{8} + \sqrt{9} \right) = 24$

8 3 3 6

5. ## Re: 24 Game Marathon

Nope, just realized my answer is probably in violation of rule #1 ... so is my question (bummer).

Edit: $\frac{ 8+8 }{ 6 } \times 9$

6 5 5 4

6. ## Re: 24 Game Marathon

Or $9 \times 8 - 6 \times 8$.

(6,5,5,4) --> $6 \times 4 \times \frac{5}{5} = 24$.

1 3 4 6

7. ## Re: 24 Game Marathon

$6\times(1-\frac{3}{4})$

2, 5, 5, 14

8. ## Re: 24 Game Marathon

Is this good? I've never played the original 24, so here's hoping for beginner's luck.
$\frac{2*5}{5}*14$

[1,2,3,4]

9. ## Re: 24 Game Marathon

$5 \times (2 + \frac{14}{5})$

1,2,3,4's super easy.

Huh? 6 * (1 - 3/4) = 6 * 1/4 = 1.5 : that's not 24.

1*2*3*4 = 24 or (2 + 4) * (1 + 3) = 24

2,3,4,4

Oops. I meant $6 \div (1-\frac{3}{4})=24$

14. ## Re: 24 Game Marathon

$\frac{2*3*8}{2}=24$

12, 9, 8, 4
