Thread: Math calculation help needed, please

I'm not sure my thread title accurately describes my request, but here it is anyway.

I want to somehow turn the numbers in 2 dates into another date or even just the third year.

The dates I want to manipulate are 26 April 1902 and 19 May 2012 together or 19 May 2012 on its own and the target dates is either 6 August 1875 or just 1875.

I've tried dropping the centuries and going with 26.4.02 and 19.5.12, but my limited ability can't get me there.

The closest I've come up so far with is 1888 and that's just using one date: 19 x 5 x 20 - 12.

Can this be bettered?

It's a nonsense, I know, but thanks for even looking.

PS Is there a name for a puzzle like this?

hi. i don't know if I get the question, but: 19 x 5 x 20 -12 =1888 and 26.04.02 has 26:02=13, ((if you want, division could be the fourth symble normally written so, +, -, *, : )).
So: (19 x 5 x 20 -12)-(26:02)=1875 . if you want the 6 of august: you could take 26.04.02, extract the 6 and add all the other numbers, i.e. 2+0+4+0+2=8. so you have 6.8 which is the 6th of august. at least in europe, or if you want you have 8.6.

I'm trying to make a fairly straightforward mathematical connection between the two or three dates in order to create a daft omen for this coming Saturday!! I know, but it keeps me off the streets!

I want the answer to be 1875 or 6/8/1875. Even 6/8/75 would do. As you say, we use the dd/mm/yy structure for dates.

I'd like the dates 26 April 1902 and 19 May 2012 to somehow add up to 1875 or 6/8/1875.

Failing that, I'd like 19 May 2012 to make 1875 or even 6/8/1875. or 6/8/75.

26/4/02 and 19/5/12 would be good too or maybe 4/1902 and 5/2012.

The month and year together would be fine, but not the day and year, if you see what i mean...
