Thread: what is the plan?

Two inmates are locked in a cell. There is a window that isn’t barred but it is high up in the cell. No matter what they try to stand on they cannot reach the window. Then one of them decides to try and tunnel out. They give up tunnelling because it is taking them too long. Finally, one of them manages to work out how to escape. What is the plan?

One of the prisoner's cups his hand and throws the other one out the window.

nope, but nice try. i wonder what amount of strength that guy must have to be able to chuck the other guy out the window. Furthermore, how was he to escape? throw himself as well?

Well, tunneling is brought in; must be for some reason...
how about using the dirt/earth/rocks/whatever from the
tunneling to form a pile they can climb on?

I thought of that from the start but it seemed so simple it couldn't be the answer...could that be the intended trick?

Also, the dirt would be somehting they were standing on...yet you said that whatever they stood on they could not reach the window
