Thread: 4 4's Puzzler

Yeah Okay, I got this question in class and we have to do the four fours question thing from 1-100.
You use 4 fours, and multiplication, subtraction, division, addition, squareroots and powers[exponents].
I've gotten to 42 but I can't use the number 44 or 444 Just a 4 by its self. I can use as many operations but only 4 fours.
Example: (4+4-4)/4=1

Can I do: [4exp3+(4exp2]+4)/sqrt4=42? AND
(4exp3+[sqrt4exp3)+sqrt4]/sqrt4=37?
the [] and () are different brackets.
And if so, I need help for 43 =/
[exp = exponent/power]
[sqrt = squareroot]
Im a bit confused
I dont really know where to put the brackets, I just want it to go in order, and not in Order of operations [OOO] Help me figure that too please x]

Here's a brain teaser! Can you (with the help of your calculator, as needed) "build" all the whole numbers between 1 and 100 using only four 4's? Use only the + - X / ( ) . ^2 = and 4 keys on your calculator. 4!=4X3X2X1 is allowed, along with repeating decimal 4 (.4~=.4444…), also the number 44 is allowed.

so 4^3 is not allowed.

37: (4!/4)^2+(4/4)

42: (4!/.4~)-4^2+4

43: 44-(4/4)
