4+7+12+18=___*16-450*180=___-20000+1000*.01+5280.2=___

This is the equation my friend gave me.

I am suppose to get a 4 digit number at the end

I get -95053.8... that is not the correct number

In order for this equation to wrok you must consider order of operations.

Math does not simply read left to right. Use the 'word' PEMDAS to remember.

P-Parenthases
E-Exponent
M-Multiplication
D-Division
A-Addition
S-Subtraction

In this case your answer of -95053.8 is correct however your friend might have not considered order of operations.

You better ask your friend the answer, as even if you are not following the math order of operation you still will not get a 4 digit answer.
