Math Riddle
Three Guys go into a motel, they buy a room. The clerk charges them $30. However, the clerk realizes that the room only costs$25 and gives $5 to the bell boy to give back to them. Since$5 can't be split evenly, the bell boy gives each man $1 and keeps$2 for himself.

In other words:
They each payed $10 dollars, so $10 \cdot 3 = 30$ They each got$1 back, so $(10-1) \cdot 3 = 27$
and the bellboy keeps $2, $9 \cdot 3 + 2 = 29$ Now the question: What happened to the extra dollar? Here is a riddle that I like and it stumps a lot of people, let's see how you guys do. • June 3rd 2006, 04:13 AM CaptainBlack Quote: Originally Posted by Quick Three Guys go into a motel, they buy a room. guys have $3 bell boy has$2..... total $30 • June 23rd 2006, 07:38 PM beens_angie Because the Clerk actually received$25 each person actually paid him $25 divided by three =$8and a third.

Since the Bell boy received $2, each person paid him$2 divide by 3 = $two thirds Therefore each person actually paid$8 and a third + $two thirds =$9

And of course they each got back $1 That makes$30!

beens :)
