Thread: Add the numbers puzzle!

ive seen this puzzle going about for quite a while now but havent been able to solve it yet , anybody got any ideas? , its called: 'Sum Sums' and is laid out below as it exactly appears:-


THIRTY-SIX MINUS TEN =

3 + 3 + 3 x 3 =

5 x 5 x 0 =

20 - 15 =

This is the sort of thing that they have on the quiz channels on cable/satellite
here. I've sat and watched people phone in with every possible solution I could see, to be told they are wrong.

I think this uses the ambiguity of language to disguise which numbers are
to be added. I suspect that this sort of problem only has a unique solution
in the mind of the setter

I don't get it. I got 46. So what?

What about 30+6+10+14 +5+5+0 + 20+15+5 = 95? Not that that is right

The trick is that it wants you to add all the numbers that can be seen
in this question (and possibly the results of any arithmetic as well).
