# Math Help - tricky math puzzle - algebra triangle

1. ## tricky math puzzle - algebra triangle

arrange the numbers from 1 to 9 in such a way that you get equal sums on each side of the triangle (see the picture). It looks easy but it is a tricky one.I'll be terribly happy if you find the solution and the logic/system (if any )

----9
--5---4
-1-----3
8--2--6--7

start with the vertex.. then try to get the sum.. you should notice that s1, s2=s1 + 1, and s3 = s1 + 2.. then for the remaining numbers, try to create pairs which is sumthing like that, i min, n1, then n2 = n1 + 1, n3 = n1 + 2.. by here, you should know which side to put them..

3. Another solution is

Code:
   1
6 4
8 9
2 5 7 3
I put them down in threes.
I started by putting 1, 2, and 3 in the corners.
The sums at that point were 3, 4, and 5.
Next I wanted to place 4,5, and 6 somewhere, but in a manner that leaves the sums as three consecutive numbers so the last step would even it out. So I did, and the sums that followed this step were 8, 9, and 10. It followed naturally to put the 7,8, and 9 in the remaining spots so that the final sums on each side came out to 17.
