Write a ten-digit number so that the first digit tells how many zeros there are in the number, the second how many ones, the third how many twos, and so forth.

I never used that expression in my life so far, it makes you sound smart. When I refer to my classmates I usually say "my classmates" or "my students".

that is exactly why i use it. you often hear professors refer to their peers as their colleagues
