Hello,
Does anyone know of a free ide and sdk that I can download that will allow me to create PDFs?

If you have windows, TeXnic Center would be the best editor to use (download the most recent version). To create documents, you need to install MiKTeX.

If you have a Mac, I'm not sure what to suggest. Others may know what would be a good program...

TeXShop is ideal for the Mac. It routinely provides pdf output.

TexMaker is nice too
