# Thread: Cannot print an accent character in TeXnicCenter

1. ## Cannot print an accent character in TeXnicCenter

Hi,

I'd like to write Mobius with the double dots in a latex document in TeXnicCenter. However, when I use the standard format for example the string:

using M\"{o}bius inversion

it does not print the o correctly. Can someone help me?

Thanks.

2. Hi,

Which packages do you use ?

\documentclass[11pt,a4paper]{article}
\usepackage{amsmath}
\usepackage{amsfonts}
\usepackage{amssymb}
\usepackage{makeidx}
\begin{document}
\"{o}
\end{document}

works fine for me, with TeXmaker

3. Hi. Thanks for the reply. Since you said yours was working I thought maybe my system was at fault. I just figured out I have "replace quotation marks" enabled" which causes a double quote to be replaced by two single quotes. When I disabled this, it fixed the problem.

Hi shawsend.

Try and improvise.

Code:
\mathrm{M\ddot{o}bius}
gives

$\displaystyle \mathrm{M\ddot{o}bius}$
